Catalina Island Eco Marathon: Catalina Island, CA. November 9, 2013. Finished 10th Overall, 1st Female, 4:07. Didn’t get trampled by Buffalo, and didn’t fall down, did swim in the ocean post finish.
Carrera de Los Muertos: Chicago, IL. November 2, 2013. Still my favorite 5k of the year. This was my third year, and my best finish placement so far! 4th female, 24th overall, and first in my age. Got to bring home my third skull award. Next year my goal is to break 19 here! 19:07
Halloween Hustle: Palatine, IL, October
Mt. Greenwood 5k: Mt. Greenwood, IL, October
The Chicago Marathon: Chicago, IL. October 13, 2013: My legs were feeling tired and heavy at mile 3, which pretty much set the physical tone for the whole race. Experience-wise this was a great race, however, I managed to PR with the help of an amazing teammate, and I ran the first 16 miles with a new friend/teammate. Re-cap here.
Bucktown 5k: Chicago, IL. September 15, 2013.
Zooma Half Marathon: Chicago, IL. August 10, 2013
El Chupacabra De San Antonio: San Antonio, Tx. July 26, 2013
Burgers and Beer 5k: Chicago, IL. July 15, 2013 … ah, crap, now I’m going to be chasing this time all year.
I (and others) was skeptical that this course was short. (hard to tell how short with “garmin interference” happening at the turnaround) But, based on the apparently effort level in this photo…perhaps I did PR:
Waterfall Glenn Xtreme 10: Darien, IL. July 13, 2013. Finish: 1:09:37, 3rd OA-Female.
Read about my “chase an NPR personality” racing style here.
Bastille Day 5/8k (5k): Chicago, IL. July 11, 2013. Finish: 19:51. First in AG, 4th(?) overall.
Ragnar Relay: Madison to Chicago. June 7-8, 2013. Recap located here, new running friends were made, and a blast was had (in between bouts of serious mood swings and some very poorly executed running).
Chicagoland Spring Half Marathon: Schaumburg, IL. May 19, 2013. Another race that I’d planned to nail, before Boston 2013 and before I injured my innards (iliac psoas region).
I was too grumpy for a recap, but the took 3rd overall and my girl V took first in the AG for the marathon, and Shelly (right) bagged her 3rd half for the year! Also, the medals were pretty cool.
First Midwest Half Marathon: Palos Heights, IL. May 5, 2013. Finish: 1:31:47. Heart-felt recap here. not the PR I’d been planning when I registered for this race long before Boston 2013. Still a nice run, and a good first race after Boston, emotional, but good.
